Orthopedic Use of ACTIFUSE Bone Graft Substitute
ACTIFUSE Bone Graft Substitute serves as a bone void filler strictly for orthopedic purposes, addressing gaps and voids unrelated to the inherent stability of the bone structure. It is designed to be gently packed into bony voids or gaps within the skeletal system, including extremities, pelvis, and spine, including use in posterolateral spinal fusion procedures with appropriate stabilizing hardware. These voids may result from surgically created osseous defects or traumatic bone injuries. The product acts as a bone void filler that gradually resorbs and is replaced by bone during the healing process.
Important Risk Information for ACTIFUSE Bone Graft Substitute
ACTIFUSE Bone Graft Substitute is not suitable for structural or load-bearing support in the skeletal system and is contraindicated for use in vertebroplasty procedures. It is crucial not to attempt altering the size or shape of the granules to ensure proper bone regeneration through maximal contact with existing bone.
The consequences of mixing ACTIFUSE Bone Graft Substitute with substances other than sterile saline/water, autologous blood, or bone marrow aspirate remain unknown.
